"Tucker" is our newest addition to our breeding program. He is a gorgeous dapple gray that won halter points as a yearling on the West Coast. He pedigree is full of performance point earners and producers. His sire sold for $250, 000. Here is a chance to incorporate some of these winning bloodlines into your our breeding program. We will be breeding him in 2005 to a select few chosen mares. Bred by Joe Yonkers in Oklahoma and we are looking forward to our first foals by him in 2006.
Skip Regulate - 2001 Gray Stallion #4039416Bee My Sierra Sierra Te Ten'te Miss Snoflurry Jackie Bee Linda Jackie Bee Annie Badger Skip O Maria St. Skipalong St. Latch Skipalong Rose Skipalong Maria Skipalong Moon Spanish Bar Maid We have been raising working quarter horses with speed for over 25 years. We bought Flying Rocket Cat, a gray, in 1977 with the intent of incorporating good minds, conformation, color, and speed into our herd. As a bonus, we also inherited awesome cow-working capabilities. Many of our broodmares still carry Cat's bloodlines and the foals continue to display his natural ability.
In 1990, we bought Paps Driftwood Cody, a bay roan Sun Frost stallion, to cross on Cat's fillies. The cross produced horses that have cattle working ability, excellent minds, and conformation to be aggressive in any halter class.
We continue to incorporate these bloodlines with other top bloodline stallions. We are currently standing at stud PC Ikewood Oaks by Docs Oak Sugar out of PC Cajun Lady. His offspring have proven in 2003 that they are a force to be reckoned with in the show arena. With limited showings in the halter arena, his offspring garnered four firsts in their respective age divisions, two championships, and one reserve. One filly by him was the high point winner at the Central States Fair in the two-year-old snaffle bit class with only two months of training. Another filly was shown by our five-year-old grandson in the leadline competition and received two firsts, one second and one third with only THREE WEEKS of riding. In 2005, two stallions were money earners in the Center of the Nation Weanling Stallion Futurity. In 2006, one filly won two Center of the Nation Futurities. Interest in “Oakie” continues to grow by leaps and bounds.
They continued the winning tradition in 2004. A stallion by Oakie, AJ Oak Rocker, placed second and third respectively in two junior reining futurities with only three months of training and a three-year-old filly continued to advance toward her performance ROM by earning points in Junior Trail. WS Goldee Oak was Reserve Year-end High Point Jr.Trail. The trainers for both horses cannot say enough about how extremely trainable these horses are!
The buckskin stallion by PC Ikewood Oaks and out of an Otoe bred mare, AJ Oak Rocker, will continue to be shown in 2007. To date his accomplishments include performance points in reining, trail, and working Cowhorse; futurity money in trail and reining; Reserve Year-end Champion Jr. Trail, Jr. Reining, and Amateur Reining for Center of the Nation; Reserve Year-end High Point Jr. Trail for SDQHA. He has a beautiful conformation and his daddy’s terrific disposition. He is expanding his experiences by currently being trained for roping. He will be available to a limited number of approved mares.
We are also pleased to introduce Skip Regulate, a.k.a. “Tucker”. He is a 2001 dapple gray stallion from California . He goes back to Te’n’Te, Jackie Bee, and Skipper W. He is dual registered AQHA/APHA. His pedigree is chock full of halter and performance winners and producers. His first foals were born in California in 2005 and the owners are looking forward to seeing how they do in the arena. His first foals for us arrived in 2006 with beautiful heads and huge hips. “Tucker” is homozygous for gray, so if you want a gray foal with awesome bloodlines, this is the stallion for you!
Our broodmares also carry the bloodlines of Otoe, Peponita, Par For the Course, Two-Eyed Jack, Docs Lynx, Jackie Bee, and Sir Beat. They have a great deal of color and class, which they stamp onto their offspring. Prospective broodmares are started under saddle and used on our working cattle ranch. They are eliminated if they show inclinations toward bucking, biting, kicking, or a tendency toward any other undesirable traits.
Jamie and Allen Hockenbary have taken over the majority of tasks from halter breaking, to starting the horses under saddle, to showing them in the arena. Their children, Corey, Collin, Layla, and Cole, also carrying on the horse show tradition.
It started in the 1940's with using government stallions to breed to mares for the remount service. We are now in our fourth generation of raising quality horses. Even though we recently lost a big part of our horse raising tradition with the death of Wes, we have striven to make the best better these past 25 years. Stop and take a look to see how we have done or visit us on the web at www.gumboqh.com. We are “Where the Pride Meets the Prairie!”
