We have been involved together in the quarter horse business since 1995. During that time, we have learned a great deal from the wonderful horse breeders that we are proud to call friends, many of whom are currently active in the RQHBA! |

We are a very small operation of ourselves, but we also help my mother, Sharon Herron, with her horse responsibilities, which include the care, maintenance, and promotion of more than forty mares, geldings, stallions, foals, and young stock. Growing up, I was very active in horses and have continued to instill that desire in our four young children.
Corey, age nine, was Center of the Nation Year-end Grand Champion Leadline in 2005 and Reserve Champion Leadline in 2006. His horse’s name is WS Kasey Kat. He rode him to Champion Walk Trot in 2007 for both CON and SDQHA. Collin, who is six this year, was Center of the Nation Reserve Champion Leadline in 2005 and 2006. He was also Summer Circuit Champion in Rapid City for Leadline in 2006. He was very proud to have his photo taken on WS Goldee Oak. He used WS Kasey Kat to win the Leadline competition in 2007 for CON. Layla, who turned five this year, has three years of showing under her belt with AJ Maximum Fancy. She says that she and “Fancy Pants” are ready for 2007. They received honors in the South Dakota Quarter Horse Association for Leadline and Walk Trot. Cole, age four, has been chomping at the bit to show and plans on setting the show world on its ear in 2008. He got a “taste” for showing at the Region II Experience in September, 2007. All of these winning horses are raised right on the ranch.
We currently have just a few mares in our personal stock. They have the bloodlines of Lucky Joe Lynx, Kelly Cody, Driftwood, Sun Frost, and Three Bars to name a few. All of our mares have been started under saddle and had to prove themselves worthy of being in our herd. We breed for quality rather than quality. We have one stallion, AJ Oak Rocker who has proven to be the foundation of our little band.
We are very pleased to have "Rocky" as our stallion. Born and raised on the Chaffee-Herron Place, he is what we want our breeding program to be. He is Sun Frost/ Otoe/Sugar Oaks/Leo bred. He has the athleticism, intelligence, conformation, and PERSONALITY to be successful in whatever we choose to have him do. He is very easy to work with, is calm, and a true people-pleaser.
His dam is a proven producer of quality stallions, with six under her belt, and his sire is an AQHA performance point producer and producer of money earners. We know that all of this means nothing if the horse cannot prove himself and prove himself he HAS! He has proven that he can do anything that we ask of him and do it well enough to turn heads. He has been shown in heading, heeling, barrels, poles, trail, western riding, Working Cowhorse, reining, and halter. He competed in eleven events during the Region II Experience and brought home the coveted Open All-Around saddle. He was Open All-Around three times, Reserve Open All-Around twice, and Amateur Reserve All-Around once in 2007. He earned his ROM in January ’07. Below is a listing of a few of his other accomplishments

Elise Ulmer will be riding “Rocky” this year and we are anxious to see how he performs for her.
AJ Oak Rocker has been entered in the Center of the Nation Stallion Futurity. He had a very limited number of foals on the ground, but he proved that he can pass on the winning tradition. Two of his foals were shown in the CON Futurity in 2007, both earning futurity money. One was also Champion Year-End Weanling Stallion and the other was Reserve Year-End Champion Weanling Filly for SDQHA.
Privately, he is being offered to a limited number of approved mares for breeding. 2006 was the first year that he had been available for breeding to outside mares. $750.00 breeding fee +$10.00/day mare care. $150.00 booking fee. Live foal guarantee. Approved registered mares only. Live coverage at this time, but we would consider semen collection if there was interest in doing so.
